JOurney's core Beliefs

These central understandings shape our faith and life together at Journey.

  • We believe in the one God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, as revealed in the Bible and made known in and through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 1:1-7; Hebrews 1:1-3).

  • We believe that Jesus, the divine Son of God, became human, ministered in word and miracle, died for our sins, was raised bodily from the dead, ascended to God’s right hand and is coming again for his people to live eternally with God (Matthew 1:18-25; Acts 2:32; Philippians 2:6-11; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; Hebrews 1:3).

  • We believe that the Holy Spirit is presently ministering through the Christian community, empowering lives of godliness and service (Acts 2:17-19; Acts 2:38; Romans 5:1-5; Romans 8:1-4; Romans 12:3-8; 1 Corinthians 3:16; 1 Corinthians 6:11, 1 Corinthians 6:19; 1 Corinthians 12:3-14).

  • We believe that the Bible is God-breathed, true in all its teaching, and is the final authority for all matters of faith and practice (Psalm 119:105; Psalm 129-136; 2 Timothy 3:15-17).

  • We believe that Jesus Christ established his church on earth to carry out his saving mission, removing all barriers, and forming the church to be one holy people (Matthew 16:18; Romans 1:16-17; Romans 10:14-15; Romans 16:25-27;  1Corinthians 1:2; Galatians 3:26-29; Ephesians 3:10).

  • We believe in God’s saving grace that calls forth from all people: faith, repentance, confession, baptism (believer’s immersion), new life, and ministry in Christ through the Holy Spirit (Romans 3:21-27; Romans 5:6-11; Romans 6:1-14; Romans 8:1-4; Romans 10:8-13; Romans 12:1-2).

  • We believe that true life is found in God through Jesus Christ and that God is eternally committed to this relationship, expecting the same from us (John 10:28-30; Romans 8:31-39; Hebrews 6:4-20; Hebrews 10:1-39).
